How is anthropology distinctive from other disciplines concerned with human beings?. Anthropology

• Holistic study of human:

- emphasizes that all aspects of human life intersect with one another in complex ways

- focuses on both particular and universal or typical characteristics of all the human populations of all the time periods and of all societies, cultures, and spaces

• Comparative study of human:

- requiring anthropologists to study similarities and differences across as many human societies as before generalizing about human beings and their activities

• Field-based disciplines:

- all anthropologists have to do some sorts of field based research which directly connects them with the lived experiences of other people or primates or material evidences left behind

• Generalizations:

- anthropologists try to come with generalizations about what it means to be human that are valid across space and over time
