Ethnicities in Pakistan-
The Punjab have been the most numerous ethnicity of what is now Pakistan since ancient
times, but the mountainous border area with Afghanistan is principally Baluchi and Pashtun. As
with the neighboring Pashtun, the Punjab converted to Islam in the 7th century. The Punjab
remained Sunni Muslims rather than convert to Shitte Islam like the Pashtun.
