Explain the role of family and friends in shaping the different self-understanding of the Thief and the Pilferer.. Sociology
Unlike the Pilferer, the professional Thief does not experience shame when the crime is committed because their significant others are either thieves themselves or accept the behaviour on what has happened. Their actions do not disgrace the Thief. The Pilferer is shameful and finds it embarrassing, disgraceful that this has happened and arrested.
