Explain the shift from home production to shopping. Sociology

The change from home production to shopping was a matter of fundamental necessity. Before everyone was farmers and grew their produce and made their bread, jam, and so on. When people started moving into the cities, they no longer were able to do this. They either didn't have the time or space to continue this practice. Then gradually extended to all sorts of domestic goods and clothing, which meant that the family as an institution stripped of its productive role. There is no time for being at home any longer, you find, that more and more people buy takeaway or eat out, as this is more covenant for them and the family.
