How are Rossby waves related to the poleward heat transfer?. Geography

Rossby waves are the periodic undulations in the path of the upper-air westerlies. Theyfo rm in the contact zone between cold polar air and warm tropical air known as the polar  front. With Rossby waves, warm air pushes toward the poles while a tongue of cold air moves toward the equator, creating a primary mechanism of heat transport.
