What was the “White Australia Policy”?. Sociology

It was the Immigration restriction act of 1901. To limit non-British migration to Australia and allow for the deportation of ‘undesirable' people who had settled in any Australian colony before federation — mainly aimed at Chinese people and abandoned in the 1970s. It would never work, as there was already a range of different cultures settled in Australia and mixed-race people as well.
