What is the ‘balance of nature’ concept? What does ‘equilibrium’ mean?. Earth & Marine Sciences
It is the stable state in which natural communities of animals and plants exist, maintained by adaptation, competition and other interactions between members of the communities and their nonliving environment. Equilibrium means that the environment is dynamic (constantly changing) and scale-dependent (relies on stability over time). The system returns to the same state after perturbation (disturbance)
