What is the difference between intrinsic value and instrumental value?. Religious Studies

Instrumental goods are things that improve our well-being; things that are valuable because of the good things they bring about. On the other hand, there are things that are worth pursuing for its own sake; some things are valuable in its own right, even if it brings nothing else in its wake. These things are intrinsically valuable.

The different between intrinsic and instrumental value is that the first corresponds to things that have value in itself, while the second correspond to things that only have value in reference to what they can “do” for us.
