How did most Reform and Orthodox Jews feel about Zionism (at least prior to 1948)?. Religious Studies

Many Jews were opposed to the Zionist project. Most reform Jews believed Jews should become part of the nation where they lived (as American Jews, British Jews, etc.). many orthodox Jews believed that political action to force to return to the Jewish homeland or create a Jewish state was blasphemous and that Jews should wait for God to miraculously bring the Jewish people home.

In 1948, Zionists declared Israel and independent Jewish state.
